Ceasars Casino
Following new legislation passed in the Virginia General Assembly allowing for casinos in select areas, Caesars Entertainment placed a bid. Their proposal was accepted by the City of Danville. The proposal was put up for a referendum vote in November 2020 and passed. Caesars Virginia is expected to be up and running by 2023.
Caesars Virginia will include 500 hotel rooms, a state-of-the-art casino floor, Caesars Sportsbook, World Series of Poker Room, new restaurant and entertainment.

White Mill Development
Wisconsin based, The Alexander Company, is investing $62.5 million into the former Dan River Mills “White Mill” property. The roughly 660,000 square foot building along with the exterior surrounding property will be transformed into a premiere mixed-use development within Danville, VA’s River District by end of 2023. 110,000 square feet of commercial space mixed with over 150 apartments will boast a river front view. This development is directly across the Dan River from the Longmill Development currently for sale and will be connected via a walking bridge spanning the river.

Riverfront Park
Across the Dan River from the Danville YMCA (next door to Longmill Development) is the property designated for the $10 million riverfront park, designed and to be built in conjunction with the City of Danville. Funding for the park has been secured and preliminary site research and planning is underway. This park will sit next door to the White Mill development, and is within a clear field of view from the Longmill site.

Tyson Foods
In bordering Pittsylvania County, Tyson Foods has announced plans to open a production and processing facility with an investment of $300 million. This facility will be a clean raw chicken repackaging facility and is projected to be operational by early 2023. As a apart of this agreement, Tyson Foods has agreed to purchase $60 million worth of Virginia-grown chicken over the next three years.

AeroFarms
New Jersey based AeroFarms has committed to investing $42 million and has already broken ground on their largest, most sophisticated indoor vertical farm to date in Cane Creek industrial park. This indoor farming technology enables year-round local production with over 300 times more yield with a fraction of the water use and without the need to use pesticides and other chemicals associated with outdoor farming.

Morgan Olson
Morgan Olson, the leading manufacturer of walk-in style delivery vans, has occupied and is operating a 925,000 sq. ft. assembly and production facility. Their investment of nearly $60 million has created an immediate 400 jobs to the region with that umber to ultimately reach 700 with further expansion.
Helpful Business-Friendly Local Government
Danville as well as the State of Virginia in recent years has forcefully maintained a cooperative, business-friendly environment for existing business and newcomers alike.
The River District Association recently received a $240,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The money will be apportioned to The North Main Street Business District Revitalization Project and the Dream Launch Bootcamp and Pitch Competition. The former will be focused on increasing access to capital, loans, grants, and training for businesses intent on opening in the North Main Street business district.
